Your Journey To Christ

 

"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:44)

 

You might not realize it yet, but you are incredibly lucky! Right now, at this very moment, you are being drawn by God, the Father, to Jesus. So many people are not chosen and will never come to Christ. But you were! You simply cannot come to Christ without being chosen and being drawn. Just think how lucky you are!

 

"And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father"  (John 6:65)

 

You weren't simply selected. You were acquired – at full price. You were acquired to be set free. "You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men." (1st Corinthians 7:23)

 

You weren't selected because of something you did or didn't do, nor were you just recently selected. None of us who were chosen were selected recently. We were selected before we were born – before we actually did anything on this earth. In fact, we were selected a very, very long time ago… "According as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love"  (Ephesians 1:4)

 

Back to John 6:44 - the word used in the Greek original is ἑλκύσῃ - from the verb "to drag" – which often implies some resistance… You are being dragged to Jesus while you are not yet with Him. This can be a slow and painful process. How much resistance you put up is up to you. However, you are guaranteed that once you come to Jesus and accept Him as your Lord and savior, you will find solace: "And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." (John 6:35)

 

God, your Father in heaven, loves you. He loves you and has chosen you, personally, to be saved. "But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth."

(2nd Thessalonians 2:13)

 

If you are still being dragged, resisting God's hope for you, resisting a destiny that has been designed for you since before the world began, you can end it today – right now – by coming to Jesus and saying these words from your heart:

 

"Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the Son of God and You were sent by Him to this earth to live as a man among us and to suffer death on the cross to pay for our sins – for my sins. I believe that You rose from the dead on the third day and that You are alive, and you are Lord. Lord Jesus, I give my life to You, to love You with all my heart, all my mind and all my soul, to love my neighbor as I love myself, to do good and to turn from evil and to do Your will and not my will. I pray in Your holy name, that You baptize me with the Holy Spirit so that You are in me and I in You. Thank You, Lord. Amen."
